Synopsis / Concept
I am going to be creating a short film about a young black man who is finding it hard to keep his faith and stay close to his family , he lives this double life where by morning he is guided by his faith and by night he is corrupted and influenced by this " gang lifestyle " he lets the pressure from his so called friends who are also part of this inner circle gang , its that type of gang that once you are in you can never leave. hence why my short film is called " Life behind the mask " , because he is practically living a double life pretending to be something he is not . The film will be about roughly 5 minutes were I will be telling a story for example it starts off when he was a young boy happy , kind loves his family but then when he walks through this door he grows up into this big strong man in this early 20s , he sees the world in a whole other perspective , where he appears to be not a little kid anymore . Putting aside that he is a man of faith and then he is also in a gang , he has one particular hobby that is boxing , boxing seems to be his only escape in life where he can go to be free . What is this characters name you ask " Jeremiah Leon " his " tag name " would be smash also known as S1 the leader of the almighty gang in South London . Jeremiah was born raised in south London , he lives and breathes FAMILY that is where his heart is , with his mother little brother and older sister , Jeremiah had to step up and be the man of the family when his dad was shot and brutally murdered . Jeremiah never once shed a tear about his father death , he has been the man of the house ever since he was just 10 years old which really put a strain on his childhood because I guess he had to become a MAN real fast , he always promised his mother that he would stay close to God and that no matter what he would never go off the rails by Jeremiah 16th birthday he was made leader of the gang called " ELITE" one of the most dangerous gangs in south London . Growing up his dad always taught him how to box so he took boxing on as a profession where he could release all his danger . Skipping ahead one day Jeremiah and his gang picked a fight with the wrong crowd and that took a turn for the worst they threatened his family , and that hit Jeremiah hard because he just wants to keep his family safe but by being in a gang he is not sure if that has kept him safe or put them in danger , so Jeremiah confronts them tells them to leave his family alone , as soon as the guy lifts his hood up he couldn't believe what he was seeing . Jeremiah cry's out " Dad " he says hello son , Jeremiah says how is this possible and then Jeremiah gets brutally stabbed by his father ..... uncle.... friend , Jeremiah is n the floor crying out for help but he is laying there the ground .
There is going to be plenty of visuals throughout the short film , less acting more narration , the main character is going to tell his own story on how it all started how he started off normal and then he life suddenly flipped upside down , the whole feel to it is going to be poetic / spoken word narration using emotive language in the highest ability. Each scene is going to be quite dramatic , a lot of tension is going to be built a long the way , because that's the whole concept to build up a lot of tension and it build a connection between the characters and the audience make them feel exactly how the character is feeling , the narration will allow the audience to help understand the story
